Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Ontology / Knowledge Graph Lead to architect and own the semantic foundation of our AI-driven solutions. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain comprehensive ontologies and knowledge graphs that power intelligent systems and drive business value. You'll lead the definition of entity relationships, semantic standards, and knowledge representation frameworks that enable our platform to understand and process complex domain information at scale.
What You'll Do
- Design and architect ontologies that model complex domain entities, relationships, and hierarchies, ensuring semantic clarity and consistency across the knowledge graph
- Lead the development of knowledge graph structures using industry-standard frameworks and tools, establishing best practices for data representation and integration
- Define entity relationships and semantic standards that enable accurate reasoning, inference, and knowledge discovery across interconnected data domains
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, ML engineers, and domain experts to translate business requirements into robust ontological models
- Establish governance frameworks for ontology maintenance, versioning, and evolution, ensuring quality and consistency as the knowledge graph scales
- Evaluate and implement ontology tools and technologies (RDF, OWL, property graphs, etc.) that best serve our technical and business objectives
- Document semantic models comprehensively with clear specifications, diagrams, and guidelines for internal and external stakeholders
- Mentor and guide team members on ontology design principles, knowledge representation best practices, and semantic web standards
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience designing, building, or maintaining ontologies and knowledge graphs
- Strong expertise in semantic web technologies, knowledge representation, and graph data structures
- Proven experience with ontology modeling languages (RDF, OWL, SPARQL) or property graph frameworks (Neo4j, etc.)
- Solid understanding of entity-relationship modeling and database design principles
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex domain knowledge into structured semantic models
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Nice to Have
- Experience owning end-to-end semantic model design and implementation in production environments
- Familiarity with linked data standards and semantic interoperability frameworks
- Background in knowledge management systems or enterprise data architecture
- Experience with AI/ML applications leveraging knowledge graphs
- Contributions to open-source ontology or knowledge graph projects
- Certifications in semantic web technologies or knowledge management
- Experience with domain-specific ontologies (healthcare, finance, manufacturing, etc.)
