Full-Stack Engineer — Job Description (US & India)
- US Job Description Full-Stack Engineer (Mid-Seniority) Location: US Location / Remote Work Model: Remote Employment Type: Full-time Reports To: Engineering Lead Experience: 5–7 years About the Role We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to design, build, and run production features across our platform, using the ReactJs and Python services and PostgreSQL data behind it. You'll own features end to end: shaping the technical approach with Product, writing the API and UI, shipping through CI/CD, and staying accountable once the feature is in front of real users. You'll work in a codebase where REST APIs and microservices coexist, performance and reliability matter, and engineers debug their own code in production rather than throwing it over the wall. What You'll Do • Build and ship full-stack features in TypeScript across ReactJs/Next.js frontends & Python backends. • Design and implement REST APIs with clear contracts, versioning, validation, and error handling that other teams can build against without guesswork. • Build frontend components that stay fast and maintainable as the product grows, with attention to state management, rendering performance, and accessibility. • Model data in PostgreSQL: write efficient queries, design schemas and migrations that don't lock tables in production, and use Redis for caching where it earns its complexity. • Take part in system design for new services and features, weighing trade-offs between simplicity, scalability, and delivery time, and documenting decisions. • Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests that catch real regressions, and keep the CI pipeline fast and trustworthy. • Review code with a focus on correctness, readability, and long-term maintainability; raise the team's quality bar through feedback, not gatekeeping. • Instrument services with logs, metrics, and traces so issues can be diagnosed quickly; participate in on-call and incident reviews [if required can do the on-call expectation]. • Find and fix performance bottlenecks across the stack, from slow queries and N+1 calls to oversized bundles and unnecessary re-renders. • Work closely with Product, Design, QA, and DevOps to scope work realistically, surface risks early, and deliver incrementally. What We're Looking For Required • 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience, with a meaningful share spent building and running production web applications. • Solid experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and React (Next.js or Angular also valued). • Backend experience with Python and preferred Node.js, including building and maintaining REST APIs. • Working knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL: schema design, indexing, query tuning. • Habitual use of automated testing at multiple levels, and comfort working in a Git-based CI/CD workflow. • Real production experience: you've debugged issues from logs and metrics, handled an incident, and fixed root causes rather than symptoms. • System design ability appropriate to midlevel, you can break down an ambiguous feature into components, APIs, and data models and explain the trade-offs. • Clear written and verbal communication with both engineers and non-engineers. Nice to Have • Experience deploying and operating services on AWS or Azure, using Docker and Kubernetes. • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures (queues, pub/sub). • Hands-on use of Redis or messaging systems in production. • Background in FinTech or Digital Commerce, especially payments, transactions, or high-traffic checkout flows. • Experience integrating LLMs or Generative AI features into products, or using AI-assisted development tools effectively and critically. What Success Looks Like • Within your first 7 days, you're independently delivering features from design through production with minimal hand-holding. • Your technical decisions hold up: designs are documented, trade-offs are explicit, and your code needs few follow-up fixes. • Services and features you own show measurable improvement in reliability or performance (e.g., lower error rates, faster p95 latency, fewer incidents). • You own your systems in production: you're the first to notice when something breaks and the one who makes sure it doesn't happen again. • Product, QA, and DevOps partners describe you as someone who flags risks early and makes delivery more predictable. • Your reviews, documentation, and pairing make the engineers around you more effective.
