Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to drive automation engineering and quality assurance for AI-powered applications, cloud-native platforms, and distributed systems. The candidate must be a strong hands-on engineer who can design and build automation frameworks, validate complex integrations, and embed quality into the software development lifecycle. The role requires an engineering-first mindset, with a focus on automation, API testing, AI application validation, cloud integration, reliability, and continuous quality improvement. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks. Own test strategy and automation for APIs, microservices, distributed applications, and cloud-native solutions. Validate AI-enabled workflows, agentic behaviour, tool integrations, and MCP-based interactions where applicable. Develop automated tests for functional correctness, integration, regression, reliability, and negative scenarios. Validate authentication, authorization, data handling, error recovery, and security-related behaviours. Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable releases. Identify root causes of defects through debugging, log analysis, tracing, and system-level investigation. Build reusable test utilities, mocks, test harnesses, and synthetic test data. Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and performance engineers to resolve quality issues. Apply AI-assisted development and testing practices to improve engineering productivity without compromising test reliability. Define quality metrics, automation coverage, defect trends, and release-readiness criteria. Required Skills & Experience Strong programming skills in Python, Java, TypeScript, or a comparable language. Experience developing automation frameworks and maintainable test infrastructure. Strong API testing and integration-testing experience. Knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, databases, networking, and asynchronous processing. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, debugging, and test execution in cloud environments. Familiarity with Azure; GCP experience is beneficial. Ability to independently investigate complex failures and take ownership of quality outcomes. Preferred Qualifications Experience testing LLM-powered applications, AI agents, or MCP-based integrations. Experience with Playwright, REST API automation tools, or equivalent frameworks. Exposure to performance testing, scalability validation, and resilience testing. Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, observability tools, and infrastructure automation. Awareness of secure software development and regulated cloud environments. Success Criteria High-quality, maintainable automation with meaningful coverage. Reliable integration of automated tests into delivery pipelines. Faster defect identification and improved release confidence. Effective validation of AI-enabled and cloud-integrated application behaviour.
